Kitchen tour
So our kitchen is finally finished and usable. I am loving the results, and I can’t wait to share the pictures.
Here what our kitchen looked like before the remodel. If there were one adjective to describe it, it would be brown. So very very brown. The first time we walked through this house I wanted to change everything. The color, the cabinets, the lay out…..you name it, I wanted it gone. So after a few years, and a lot of planning, we got to work and created my “dream” kitchen. Here is the result.
We decided to go with white cabinets and dark granite on the top of them. The walls are gray and my pantry door is painted yellow for a fun pop of color. We moved the fridge, sink, and added the corner pantry to the kitchen.
I decided to go with two islands in this kitchen. We had a space that was originally used as a breakfast nook, but I wanted an island where we could sit around and I could roll out dough for cookies and bread. So I decided to do one island with the sink and dishwasher, and a separate island for baking and eating. I painted the baking island a denim blue color and topped it with a granite that reminded me of marble.
We moved the refrigerator to front of the kitchen closer to the sink and dishwasher. On the side of the dishwasher I put in glass cabinets to hold my dishes and display my cookbooks. The counter top is perfect to set out serving dishes since it is right next to the dining room.
We put the stove and oven on the opposite wall, and my talented hubby built me an awesome vent hood for over the cook top.
The desk area is one of my favorite spots in the kitchen. We bricked the wall and found a cool old sewing machine desk to have the perfect little computer space right next to the kitchen. I still have a lot of decorating to do, but I am loving the space. It was a lot of hard work, but it is totally worth it in the end!
