Fall in my entry
I’m excited to share with you what I have done to decorate my entry for fall. I went a little more simplistic this year in terms of my fall decor. Since I have such great pieces I have collected through the years, I decided to just incorporate them along with some of my fall decor.
I ended up adding a couple of pumpkins and a fall painting I painted to the dresser as you come in the door. The typewriter, camera, and books that are already there give a very fall vibe to me.
This dresser was a hand me down from my hubby’s parents. They were going to get rid of it years ago, and being newly married and needing to furnish a home, I decided to take it. It has been with us ever since. The dresser came that great green color, and I other than styling it, I haven’t done anything to it since.
We replaced the front door around five years ago, and what a difference that made in this space. I have many large windows in my home, so I chose a door that had a large window in it. It allows a lot of the light to come in, and I can see the trees that line our front sidewalk. It is really like bringing the outside in.
Along the wall next to the dresser, I created a shelf to display some pictures and add some dimension. I found the base of this shelf at a local antique shop. I had been keeping my eye on it for a while when I decided I needed it to be the bottom of the shelf I wanted to create for this space. My husband just cut me a piece of wood, I painted it, and he attatched it. I love this shelf because it is unique and it is a great place to display some photography and art.
I just simply added some pumpkins and stems to the decor that was already on the shelf. I have a painting I did of a picture I took of Lancaster County PA. The photograph is one that my Grandpa took of my college town in the 1940’s. Both of those pieces of art hold a lot of great memories for me, and I love seeing them in my home everyday.
