Think outside the box
When I decorate a space and start investing in accessories for that space I try to find things that are a little unique, maybe something that everyone might not have. This fun lantern is an example of that. When I was on the hunt to find some lighting for my family room I quickly became discouraged. Everything looked the same to me, same lamp, same shade, same same same. It was so boring to me. That is when I saw this fun lantern. It was intended to hold a candle, but we saw it a different way. When I picked it up at the store, my hubby said that would…

Giving things new life
I love finding items and giving them new life. Creating something with them to use them a different way than was intended. It is a fun creative outlet. This project was actually my hubby’s idea. We had bought this lantern at Hobby Lobby to use as an accessory on a shelf in our room. We were looking for a lamp for our night stand and decided this would work great as a lamp. I found these school house fixtures on a trip we took to Boise this summer, and I knew I had to have them for my bathroom. I also added some to my closet. This will hang off of a beam we made for the center of the room. I have…

Lighting
Lighting in a room can add so much fun and personality. I love taking a light fixture and making it my own. For instance, we found this chandelier on Overstock for an amazing price. It was brass, yuck, but with a little imagination and some turquoise spray paint, it turned into a whole lot of fabulous! This is my daughter’s personality all summed up in a light fixture. I wanted to add some sconces to the room by the bed for reading at night. We again bought some inexpensive brass sconces from amazon and sprayed them turquoise. We then bought some shades and covered them in a fun fabric. Little…
